AOC Gets Trashed Over What She Calls “Hard Work”

If you know anything about liberal New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, it’s likely that, beyond her ridiculous policy ideas, she worked her way through college as a bartender/waitress. You will probably also know that this experience has somehow given her the idea that she is now better than everyone else, or at least everyone on the right of the political aisle.

If you need any proof of this idiotic belief, the evidence was published in black and white for all the world to see on Thursday.

She wrote, “Republicans like to make fun of the fact that I used to be a waitress, but we all know if they ever had to do a double they’d be the ones found crying in the walk-in fridge halfway through their first shift bc someone yelled at them for bringing seltzer when they wanted sparkling.”

However, this rant seems to prove one more thing, as well. She’s completely missing the point.

If any Republican ever made fun of her for her previous line of work, it wasn’t because of the actual job she had or having to work in anything other than politics. Bartenders and waitresses make up a vast population of America’s working class. No conservative, or at least not an honest one, would ever shame that profession or a person for working a job to make ends meet.

In fact, if anything, they would likely praise them. After all, America runs on hard-working people whose jobs, no matter how menial they may seem, make it possible to have not only the products that we depend on every day but also our freedoms.

What is far more likely is that, as is typical, AOC misunderstood what about her that conservatives don’t like. You know, like her infuriatingly socialistic Green New Deal, which would serve only to destroy American freedoms and our economy.

They also don’t appreciate that working a few “doubles,” as AOC alludes to, is supposed to entitle her to a lifetime of being able to say that she’s a hard worker and part of what keeps America keeping on.

And no one says that better than the cleverly witted conservative commentator and activist Candace Owens.

She made sure to comment on AOC’s preposterous tweet, letting her know she’s not nearly as impressive as she thinks she is.

Owens wrote, “I used to be a waitress and I worked multiple doubles.  I am laughing out loud at how much of a coastal elitist you have to be to view that as the definition of a hard day at work. Please get on a plane and see the rest of the world (or country) you spoiled rotten brat.”

Now, to be clear, Owens is not trying to disrespect or degrade the hard work of waitressing. Nor is she saying that AOC didn’t work hard at that job.

She is saying that no matter how busy AOC was kept during her hours of “hard work” or how mean customers were to her, her limited time spent there is nothing compared to that of people who do this day in and day out year after endless year. Nor can it hold a candle to the vast majority of jobs that could be considered much “harder.”

You know, like the cooks and dishwashers who worked in that restaurant or bar. Or the farmers who provide the restaurant with its bounty of food. Or what about the fishermen who spent months at sea away from their families and loved ones all so you can be served Alaska Salmon or King Crab?

No, I am not trying to start a ‘who works harder’ competition. However, it’s clear that AOC has no idea what hard work actually is if she thinks that serving food and drinks for a few hours after classes is hard enough work to give her a gold medal.

And based on the other responses AOC got, I’d say most of America agrees.

Like this guy, who says, “It’s actually the first time I was almost offended by words and felt like a Democrat. I worked from 14 in warehouse freezers waking up at 4 am. AOC is a clown for acting like restaurant work makes her above it all and relatable.”

Or this American vet who noted that AOC and her cronies make fun of vets, in the same manner, she claims she was made fun of.

Suffice it to say, AOC isn’t getting any sympathy for her meager years spent doing menial labor – so she might as well stop trying.
