One of the biggest ideas in the minds of liberal leadership has been to divide and conquer the American people. Their chief goal has been to polarize our people and tell them that if we are not for their progressive politics then we are against them and that we need to be silenced. The best way to silence the voices is to spread out and spread your message.
Given the mass concentration of liberals in places like NYC and California, they saw the pandemic as a prime opportunity to spread that message. Many of their jobs were forced to go remote, and they discovered places like Texas and Florida were much cheaper than their home states, and they were not already poisoned with the progressive politics. So they took the opportunity to spread out and spread their message.
So when Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) showed up to San Antonio, TX to campaign for Jessica Cisneros and Greg Casar in their quest to take the seats in the 28th and 35th Congressional districts she brought a special message with her. One that no Texan ever expected to hear uttered, but here she is spreading it.
“Here’s what’s exciting about Jessica’s race and Greg’s race, is that if we flip Texas, we flip the country…Texas turning blue is inevitable. The only question is when. We are going to fight for a living wage, we are going to make sure we unionize the hell out of this state… and we’re going to make sure that not one dime is made exploitatively across any worker, especially the undocumented.”
This message is incredibly bold from AOC, and a far departure from her usual rhetoric because she has a point. Texas has been a red state since 1980. Holding a 42-year tradition is incredibly difficult when people don’t show up to the polls like they used to. Many who do are only showing up because they are exercising their right to vote, but they fail to exercise their right to be educated before casting their vote.
Back in 2019 Texas Sen. Ted Cruz spoke at a Christian Science Monitor breakfast and expressed his fears of this exact thing happening. “If we lose Texas, it’s game over. I don’t believe Texas will turn blue but central to that is we’re going to have to work to communicate and turn people out.” Educating the people and getting them to turn out has been the biggest difficulty in politics for either side.
One of the biggest divisive issues on voting has a strong foothold in Texas- the necessity to provide voter ID to cast your vote. While progressive Democrats come up with all sorts of excuses as to why this is wrong or illegal, the rest of America realizes how smart it is. You need ID to purchase age-restricted products. You need to carry an ID to legally operate a vehicle. You need it to fly and in many cases for high-cost purchases. So why not for voting?
If AOC and the progressive left have their way, there would be no voter-ID laws. There would be no need for it because they are willing to trust the integrity and the honesty of the election to the people with no checks and balances. It’s bad enough they want to give illegal immigrants the right to vote here- something the Constitution forbids, and they claim needing an ID is racist (an argument never heard). How is protecting the integrity and fairness of our elections racist or wrong? Perhaps it’s because it makes it harder and harder for them to manipulate the American people. Even if they try to overrun the Republican-led states.
